Fernando Gaviria has posted pictures to Instagram and Twitter of what appears to be a new Specialized S-Works Venge ViAS Disc, in the instagram picture the hydraulic shifters are visible but no disc or caliper and the twitter picture is cropped so the discs and calipers are not visible.
The text with the twitter picture is “My ride today in Belgium debuting ship ? @Etixx_QuickStep”
The Specialized S-Works Venge ViAS was first released in June last year with disc brakes only and is used by some sprinters in the Specialized backed World Tour teams.
More details to follow.
Updated: The Specialized S-Works Venge ViAS Disc has now been approved by the UCI and included on the most recent list of Approved Models of Frames and Forks. The Venge ViAS Disc will be available in eight sizes from 49cm through to 61cm.
With speculation that the UCI will recommence the disc brake trial on June 1 we may see an official release of the Venge ViAS Disc close to that date and possibly see the bike used in a race at the Critérium du Dauphiné in early June. We asked the UCI to confirm the June 1 date and they responded that “discussions are ongoing and no date or timeframe has been set”.
