Specialized S-Works Venge ViAS

Specialized have unveiled a brand new Specialized S-Works Venge ViAS at the recent Tour de Suisse. Riden by three time Tour de France green jersey winner Peter Sagan, and Mark Cavendish the new Specialized S-Works Venge ViAS features a completely redesigned frame with integrated front and rear brakes, an integrated stem and lower rear triangle.

Cables and wires are internally routed, including through the stem. Really the only visible part of the cables and wires is at the exit point to the brakes or derailleurs. The release of the Specialized S-Works Venge ViAS comes after several other aero bike updates over the last month, first was a new Trek Madone at the Criterium de Dauphine, then a new Scott Foil was seen being riden by Michael Albasini.

Specialized’s goal with the new Specialized S-Works Venge ViAS was to make the fastest road stage bike in the world and claims of being two minutes faster over 40km are being made. Specialized installed their own wind tunnel two years ago and it would seem has been used extensively in the design and prototypes of the ViAS.

Here’s a look at some photos taken by GCN at the recent Tour de Suisse. You can see the aggressive integrated brakes, the rear triangle looks very similar to the Cervelo S5 and the new Scott Foil. You can also see the riser handlebars used on Mark Cavendish’s bike.
