CycleOps was one of the earliest manufacturers of indoor trainers starting first with fluid trainers circa 1995 then redesigning them into the Fluid2 and then later CycleOps were the first company to bring electronic wired indoor trainers and smart trainers. Now CycleOps has joined Wahoo and Tacx in offering a direct drive electronically controlled indoor trainer and have named it – The Hammer.
Like other direct drive trainers you remove the rear wheel off your bike and place the bike on the CycleOps Hammer direct drive trainer then secure the quick release, and here’s where The Hammer has got one over the competition. The Hammer will not only fit 130mm and 135mm quick release axles, it will also fit bikes that use thru-axle bike frames with widths of 142mm or 148mm.
The Hammer has integrated dual ANT+ FE-C and Bluetooth enabling the rider to use it with any of the virtual training platforms including CycleOps own CycleOps VirtualTraining, TrainerRoad, Zwift and others.
