There’s a huge range of GPS bike computers in the market now but for recreational riding and commuting most riders already have a smartphone that’s capable of tracking your rides with GPS and integrating with any of the cycling apps like Strava and Ride with GPS, plus you can record additional data like heart rate and cadence if you want.

If you decide you want to use a smartphone instead of a dedicated cycling computer you have a choice of putting it your pocket, or mounting it using special purpose bike phone mounts on your stem or handlebar so you can view your ride data live. If you want to use a bike phone mount there’s plenty of options and things to consider.

Do you need waterproofing, are you riding off road or mountain biking and need a sturdy mount, do you need to mount a GoPro as well, is easy city riding your thing and a minimalist design will do?

Here’s seven options from various companies to mount your smartphone on your bike.
