Rohan Dennis Stage 3 winner 2014 Tour of California

Stage 3 San Jose – Mount Diablo 174.5km

Rohan Dennis (Garmin-Sharp) made a late attack on the Mount Diablo stage to clinch the stage victory and take 20 seconds out of the lead Bradley Wiggins took on yesterdays individual time trial. Earlier on the queen stage of this years Tour of California Wiggins had been riding tempo to make sure no one got up the road. Rohan Dennis made his move with 2km to go after seeing other riders crack around him in the heat.

“Last year, at about three kilometers to go, I didn’t have anything left,” Dennis said. “This year, getting past that was a bonus. At two kilometers to go, I saw other people cracking around us and that gave me more confidence … I decided to go and from then on I think it was just all or nothing.”
